Personalized individual therapy for older teens and adults, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy, CBT (inferential, trauma-focused), nerdiness, and a love of nature, animals, and feeling and functioning better.

About Jessica Heuschele, LCSW
It's pronounced “Hoy-schlee”, but feel free to call me Jess (Jessica, Jessie) H.

Thank you for visiting, and for prioritizing your mental wellness.

As a middle-aged mama with careers in science and writing prior to becoming an LCSW, I bring lived experience and an eclectic style to helping you improve your mental health.

I tend to work with adults (especially those in the second half of their lifespans) and motivated older teens, treating trauma, substance use, dual diagnoses, mood and anxiety disorders, life changes and stressors, perfectionism, ruminations/impulsivity, aging-related transitions, grief, and phobias.

I am credentialed in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, trauma-focused CBT, and animal-assisted therapy (no animals in-person at this time), and am trained in Gottman theory and Functional Family Therapy. I offer both structured work and general talk therapy that further taps into (inferential) CBT, mindfulness, nature therapy, and person-centered therapy, depending on your needs and preferences.

I am comfortable treating clients with baseline suicidality and/or self-harm, am kink-positive, and welcome those from all walks of life.
Meet in Groton CT or via telehealth
Sessions can be held by telehealth or in-person in Groton CT, off Rt 1 near the Big Y shopping plaza.

There is private parking behind the building, and my first-floor office and bathroom are fully accessible.

Some night and weekend times are available with more to open in the future. I am licensed in CT and FL. I will soon be in-network with Husky, Medicare, United Heathcare, ConnectiCare, and Aetna. Otherwise treatment is by private pay; superbills can be provided for clients to submit on their own if they have out-of-network benefits.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Keep the knowledge, lose the pain. ART is an evidence-based treatment that combines eye movements with guided visualization and mental restructuring to quickly improve traumatic memories, fears, and other negative thought patterns, usually within 1-5 sessions.

Structured and/or General Talk Therapy

Using person-centered talk therapy or a more structured, tool-based strategy (CBT, iCBT, tfCBT, MBT), we will collaborate on your personalized plan. Talk therapy can help you adjust to and flourish within major life changes and improve symptoms of trauma, mood disorders, OCD, depression, anxiety, grief, substance use disorders, etc.

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT)

Animal-assisted interventions can soothe distress, increase self-confidence, improve depression and anxiety, and enhance structured therapies. At this time, I do NOT offer animal interventions in person (no animals are allowed in the office building). However, we can include your pet in your therapy through telehealth or at-home assignments, and/or structure interventions around nature.

Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Letters

I offer an evaluation to justify an ESA, education around the meaning and function of an ESA letter and, where indicated, writing of an ESA letter for your landlord. This can be part of a client's ongoing treatment or a single-session offering.

Costs
I will be in-network with United Healthcare, ConnectiCare, Aetna, Medicaid, and Medicare.

I am out-of-network for other insurances. Superbills can be provided.

Private pay is:
$160 per hour-long session (53-60 min, first session needs to be an hour)
    $125 per 45-min session (38-52 min)
    $ 90 per 30-min session (20-37 min)

Sliding scale can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
